Dosage Form: Capsule.
Indications:
Primary uses-
- Cerebral insufficiency: memory deficit, depression, attention and memory loss that occur with Alzheimer’s disease and multi-infarct dementia.
- Vertigo and tinnitus (ringing in the ear) of vascular and involutional origin.
- Peripheral vascular disease: Improvement of pain-free walking distance in Peripheral Arterial Occlusive Disease in Stage II according to Fontaine (intermittent claudication) in a regimen of physical therapeutic measures, in particular walking exercise.
Other potential Uses-
- Acute cochlear deafness.
- Sexual dysfunction associated with SSRI use.
- Protective action in Hypoxia.
Pharmacology:
Ginkgo inhibits the combination of platelet activating factor (PAF) and platelets, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation and increasing blood fluidity; reducing thrombosis, improving cognition, working memory, short-term visual memory in dementia, short-term memory in brain failure, patients with dementia The social function of the dementia patient, the attention of the dementia patient, the care of the dementia patient, the tinnitus of the dementia patient, and the activities of daily living. Life Score (ADL) for people under 60, mood and sleep of the elderly.
Dosage guidelines:
Ginkgo Biloba 60 mg: 1 or 2 capsules daily or as advised by the physician.
Ginkgo Biloba 120 mg:1 or 2 capsules daily or as advised by the physician.
Route of administration: Orally.
Interaction:
Mild interactions: abciximab, anagrelide, anamu, cilostazol, clopidogrel, danshen, devil’s claw, dipyridamole, eptifibatide, green tea, prasugrel, ticlopidine, tirofiban.
Contraindications:
Ginkgo biloba should be used with caution only in patients taking blood thinners or antiplatelet drugs (ie, warfarin, heparin, and aspirin). Due to the increased possibility of bleeding before prolonged use (612 months) or elective surgery, it is also contraindicated in bleeding disorders. Contraindicated in patients with known risk factors for intracranial hemorrhage.
Side Effects:
There are no side effects after the prescribed therapeutic dose is taken correctly. In a combined clinical trial involving 10,000 patients, the incidence of side effects from Ginkgo biloba extract was extremely low. Some have headaches, dizziness, palpitations, gastrointestinal disorders, bleeding disorders, and allergic skin reactions. At doses higher than recommended, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, irritability and weakness may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
During pregnancy and nursing, no known restrictions have been discovered.
Precautions & Warnings:
If you are allergic to it, have bleeding difficulties, seizures, convulsions, or epilepsy, tell your doctor before using it. Ginkgo biloba may reduce blood clotting capacity. 2 weeks before surgery, stop using this product.
